Shoppers are racing to get their hands on one of Kmart’s new $30 cast iron pots, deeming the cooking item a perfect dupe of Le Creuset cookware.

Shoppers are racing to get their hands on one of Kmart’s new $30 cast iron pots, which some have deemed a much more affordable alternative of French manufacturer Le Creuset’s iconic cookware.

While previously available in blue and grey, the retailer recently released the 4-litre cast iron casserole in two new shades – blush pink and sage green.

The new colours sent Aussies into a frenzy online – as did the price, considering similar Le Creuset casseroles can set you back up to $450.

One Sydney-based TikToker, @lunamoor_, went viral when she showcased hers in a clip – clocking more than 619,000 views and 57,400 likes.

She noted that it was “going straight into storage” until she moved out, and therefore “unfortunately cannot review it”. “I will say tho [sic] it’s pretty small! It’s only 4-litre but for myself when I move out it will be perf,” she added in the comments.

Hundreds of users on the platform commented on her clip that they needed to get their hands on one of the pots, while others recounted the lengths they’d gone to in order to find them.

“I finally found this the other day after searching for WEEKS,” one wrote.

“Now I can’t stop using it aha. If it’s not pink, I don’t want it.”

Asked whether it was good quality and how she found cooking with it, the user responded: “I think so, yep! I’ve been making a bunch of soups and it’s done a great job! I was definitely wary because Kmart haha but so far so good.”

“Hey I have that in blue! I’ve had it for two years and I love it,” commented another.

“I have the white one and it’s incredible. Tried it before buying a Le Creuset, but it’s actually amazing so don’t need to,” added a third.

One woman wrote that she wished she’d known about the Kmart pots sooner, commenting: “Sobbing because I literally sold my kidney to buy a cast iron pot from Spotlight like a week ago.”

The pot is ideal for slow-cooked meals, casseroles and stews – with some people also using it to bake bread – and it can be used in both the oven or on the stovetop.

While it’s currently sold out in pink on the retailer’s website, all other colours are available in stores and online.
